There are two modules for AS-Level English Language and Literature, one of the modules covers the significance of voice and involves a comparison of fictional prose with a speech transcript.

Victorian or contemporary literature are often used. The other module covers texts from a set list with themes such as gender, dystopia, etc. Students would be expected to answer how and why language in literature varies in different time periods.

A2-Level English Language and Literature also has two modules, oneexploring language in poetry and plays from a prescribed list. Students will be required to recognise the language used from different time periods and be able to analyse them as texts. Students may also need to compare and contrast similar texts from a range of dates.

The other module may involve assessing narrative techniques and structure in a variety of texts or students may have to create a portfolio of work analysing the language used by different authors from a set list.
